SONG: Risky
ARTIST: Rebekah Rhys
The song "Risky", by Rebekah Rhys was originally written in 2005 and first recorded on her "Neither Here Nor There" EP. The original version was more of an acoustic AC vibe.
"When Rebekah brought the song to me, we broke it back down to an acoustic version with just Rebekah and an the acoustic guitar. I like to use this method, if a song has been previously recorded, to get rid of all the artifacts that are not part of the songs foundation. Then we are better able to see what we're working with," recalls Producer Jay Riggs. "After listening to the raw acoustic version we decided to go for more of an edgy Rock sound, which we did with most of Rebekah's music. We brought in a team of professional session players, re-sculpted the song, and what we ended up with was the stronger side of Rebekah's style that you hear now," explained Riggs.
"The song," Rhys explains, "was written about the exciting beginnings of a new relationships, where everything always seems so perfect, and all the "magic" pieces seem to have fallen into place. It's a time where you feel like you want to just get out there and live and not hide under a rock or something. Im so happy with this song now. We were able to fully explore the rock sound that I had intended when I first wrote it, and it came out great," Rhys added.
